2007 Cabernet Franc Rosé 750ml
The 2007 Rosé is made from 100% Cabernet Franc, the traditional grape of Rosés in France’s Loire Valley. It is a seigneur (or “bleeding” of juice) from grapes that went into our Napa Valley Merlot and our Bourriquot blend. Fermented cool in stainless steel and bottled in February, its brightness (no oak presence), freshness (natural acidity left in the wine by blocking malo-lactic fermentation), and length are Michael Havens’ personal statement on Rosé: Keep it lively.

2007 Albarino 750ml
This year’s Albariño recalls its predecessors: floral scents of citrus blossom, early pear, and lychee fruit jump from the glass. High natural acidity accentuates the intense, lively mineral quality that is its hallmark. Chefs often notice that this minerality makes it among the very best wines to pair with food (seafood, yes, but also anything rich or spicy, foie gras to jambalaya). And while it opens with an elegant, even austere profile, its focused and persistent back-palate fruit lingers hauntingly. At only 12.5% alcohol, this wine stays refreshing, allowing you to continue enjoying it through the bottle.

2004 Merlot, Napa Valley 750ml
Our 2004 Napa Valley Merlot is now full and luscious, in a sense the most classic style for Napa Valley. This wine is destined to be a crowd-pleaser, offering a juicy, rich mouth-feel and varietally true black fruits. Yet the tannins are round and mouth filling, so the resulting wine on the palate is still balanced. It answers firmly that a rich wine can be complex, nuanced and elegant.

2003 Merlot Reserve 750ml
With a full two years bottle aging before release, our 2003 Merlot Reserve has already developed into a distinctive wine: black fruits, hints of allspice, mace and anise and a broad-but-firm backbone. This wine shows off 2003’s best character, the firm structure of late-harvested Carneros fruit, and the complexity that comes from Merlot planted in a superior site. It should age well for another five to eight years from release, not simply surviving, but developing more intricate texture and exotic aroma.
$40.00
2003 Bourriquot 750ml
In contrast to our other Right Bank reserve level wine, Bourriquot features more fine-grained tannins, becoming more elegant early in life than the robust flavors of the Carneros Merlot. The 2003 continues this style, opening with lively tobacco flower and cherry aromas that explode in the mouth. The mid-palate is refined, moderately full, and is followed by an expanding, long finish that offers firm, ripe cherries and adds a licorice note. It has firm tannins that support the substantial fleshiness and should assure a good development in bottle for many years.

2003 Syrah Napa Valley 750ml
The relative warmth of 2003 is evident in this Syrah’s rich, meaty character. But its cooler terroir shows in the mocha-coffee hints and the bright, peppery spring to its finish on the palate (not unlike the 2002). You will also taste a wine that is balanced between its fleshy elements (round fruit, creaminess) and its structure (tannins and acids). You will think “Rhone Syrah” (if you know it), and you will not think “oak,” because that element is fully integrated into the wine. And if you are enjoying it, appropriately enough, with a meal, you will notice how the wine keeps calling you back to refresh your palate for the next bite.

2004 Black and Blue 750ml
The 2004 Black & Blue is drinking auspiciously now, offering a load of sweet fruit and balancing spice. But it will no doubt age into something even more exotic and subtle with years in the bottle; ten years from vintage should be really interesting. It’s a variation on a theme most wine lovers have heard, the Napa Valley Cabernet theme, but it’s played a little differently, more wild and haunting.

2002 Merlot Napa Valley 1.5L
Our 2002 Napa Valley Merlot is very rich, velvety, in a sense the most classic style for Napa Valley. It offers some of the fullest body and deepest fruit of any vintage we’ve made of this wine, yet the tannins are round and mouthfilling, so the resulting wine on palate is still balanced.
$53.00
2001 Merlot, Carneros (Reserve) 1.5L
With a full two years bottle aging before release, the 2001 Merlot Carneros Reserve is already developed into a stylish wine: dark plummy fruit, subtle baking spices, and a broad-but-firm backbone. Tasting Update: Showing absolutely spectacularly right now, at the peak of its youthful fruit development, still quite open to the deep purple plum and cassis. The texture shows mouthfilling, round tannins (melted cocoa powder), lingering full without being at all heavy.
